August Loves

August has been such a fun month for me. I worked a lot, went to some amazing concerts and got the chance to go to New York. I also got to experiment with lots of makeup. I wanted to share my favourite beauty products from the month of August.

Single eyeshadows, first row, L to R: Nylon, Naked Lunch, Woodwnked, Swiss Chocolate. Second row, L to R: Digit, Beautiful Iris and Parfait Amour.

MAC A Novel Romance Eyeshadow Quad
  • This quad just recently came out with MAC's Novel Romance collection. The moment I saw this collection at work, I knew I would be buying it. The colours are so beautiful and perfect for fall. The pigmentation is wonderful. What I really like is the variety, it's not all matte and shimmery shades, but a combination. I find myself grabbing this palette more and more. If you can still get your hands on it, don't hesitate.
MAC Uninterrupted Pro Longwear Eyeshadow
  • First time I saw this eyeshadow, I didn't understand all the hype around it. I mean, it looks nasty, it looks like poo. But I thought I would give it a chance and now, it has become a staple in my collection. It is an amazing crease shade and it will warm up any look. I absolutely love it on medium to deep skin tones. Its matte and it really does last all day long.
MAC Nylon Eyeshadow
  • Everyone is currently going gaga over Nylon but I don't blame them, its pretty amazing. It is an amazing all over the lid colour and it looks beautiful as a highlight on the brow bone or in the tear duct. The pigmentation is serious - a little goes a long way.
MAC Naked Lunch Eyeshadow
  • I am a new fan of this shade. Whenever I would do makeup at work, I found myself putting Naked Lunch on everyone. It just goes well with everything and on everybody. It's a beautiful warm toned, natural pink with lots of gold. My favourite thing about Naked Lunch is the sheen, it catches the light so beautifully.
MAC Woodwinked Eyeshadow
  • This one is an oldie but a goodie. Woodwinked is a favourite for many so I feel like I don't have to elaborate. It's a beautiful gold that is pretty special because it looks a little different on everyone. I love creating smokey eyes with Woodwinked, especially in the summer, when we all have that beautiful glow on the skin.
MAC Swiss Chocolate Eyeshadow

  • Swiss Chocolate is a beautiful matte chocolate brown eyeshadow. Creating a smokey eye with this shade is so effortless. Swiss Chocolate is perfect for the crease or smoking up any eye look.

MAC Folie Eyeshadow

  • I can't get enough of this eyeshadow! Folie is a matte, deep, red-toned brown. If you love red-toned browns and you currently own Brown Script, you'll equally love this eyeshadow. It's just perfect, just like Swiss Chocolate, it makes a beautiful smokey eye and crease shade.

MAC Digit Eyeshadow (PRO)

  • Digit is a new discovery for me and I've been using it constantly since I bought it. Best way I can describe Digit is, that it's a pale, almost white, lavender. I love adding this to the tear duct, for brightness. It's something a bit different from a pale gold or shimmery off-white.

MAC Beautiful Iris Eyeshadow

  • Such a beautiful purple shade, its name is perfect. Whenever I get lazy or I'm not inspired by anything, I like to do purple (it compliments all eye colours). I just grab Beautiful Iris on a fluffy brush and apply it to the eye. It's a cool toned purple and it's not too dark or too bright.

MAC Parfait Amour Eyeshadow

  • This eyeshadow has been my summer eyeshadow. It's just so much fun and easy to work with! Parfait Amour is a pigmented cool toned purple. I like to wear this on its own, or as a pop of colour and I love pairing it with Beautiful Iris.

Left corner: Illamasqua Lover Blush (top), MAC Triple Infusion MSF (centre), MAC New Romance Blush (bottom).

MAC Triple Infusion MSF (LE)

  • Absolutely loving this MSF, I used it all of summer as a highlight on the face. Of course, this can also be used as blush because of the three shades in the compact. It makes a beautiful highlight for those who have medium to dark skin tones. I wish this product was still available, unfortunately it is a limited edition product, it came out in MAC's Colour Craft collection.

MAC New Romance Mineral Blush

  • New Romance is the perfect combination of a warm pink meets a peach. This blush is so easy to wear and I find myself grabbing this whenever I don't have a clue of what to apply on my face. The sheen of it is really beautiful and it gives a soft glow to the face. New Romance can be worn with or without a highlighter.

Illamasqua Lover Blush

  • Lover is by far, my favourite blush…ever. It's a beautiful warm peach, it is very pigmented and it applies evenly. The powder is finely milled and very well done. This is an every day blush for every occasion and it really gives life to the cheeks. I cannot say enough good things about Lover, I feel like I will be purchasing this blush many times.

Lip Pencils, left corner: Stone and Hover. Bottom left: Prep + Prime Lip. Lipsticks, right corner: Illamasqua Buff lipstick (centre), MAC Smoked Purple lipstick (bellow Buff) and MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick (right).

MAC Stone Lip Pencil (PRO)

  • In my opinion, Stone is one of the best lip pencils out there. It is a cool toned, dark brown that is essential in a makeup kit. This lip pencil can be worn on its own, as a lipstick — lining the lips, filling them in and sometimes, adding a golden gloss for shine and warmth. Stone is amazing at manipulating the natural lip shape and adding depth and darkness to the mouth. Again, a product I will purchase many times. MAC needs to make this a permanent item, in my opinion. It will be released in an upcoming collection called Artificially Wild, which comes out September 4th.

MAC Hover Lip Pencil

  • I have had Hover in my collection for a long time and it has to be my favourite lip pencil MAC makes. Thankfully, this one is available at all MAC location. Hover is a warm, mid-toned brown. Like Stone, it is great at manipulating the lip pencil but it is not as dark or cool as Stone. Hover looks great with a lot of nude lipsticks. I have to say that Hover and Honey Love lipstick (MAC) is one of my favourite nude lip combinations.

MAC Prep + Prime Lip

  • This is currently my favourite lip primer, in the market. It's funny that I have never given this product a chance, since I work for MAC Cosmetics. The reason why I love it, is because of its formula. When it's first applied, it feels just like a lip balm — it feels smooth and hydrating. After 10-15 seconds, it stars getting tacky. This product preps the lips for lip pencil and lipstick application very well. It makes applying any lipstick so easy, especially matte lipsticks. It brings out the pigmentation of lip pencils and lipsticks which is helpful because you don't use as much product then.

MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick

  • Velvet Teddy is a beautiful warm, deep nude. It has a matte formula and it is very pigmented. I've always disliked flat, concealer nudes and this lipstick is the opposite of that. It really is a nude with a lot of warm brown in it. It looks especially beautiful on medium skin tones. I feel like this is a perfect nude for fall and when it is paired up with a darker lip liner (Hover), it gives that feel of a 90's lip, which is all the rage right now.

MAC Smoked Purple Lipstick

  • Smoked Purple is a deep and dark, purple toned lipstick. It has a matte formula and of course, its pigmentation is excellent. The lips really do need to be hydrated and prepped when using this lipstick because any dry skin or imperfections will show. This looks amazing on everyone. Whether you have milk like or deep chocolate skin, it will look beautiful on you. Again, another fall lipstick but more daring and fun! You don't have to stick to the season though, because I wore this in the summer.

Illamasqua Buff Lipstick

  • This lipstick is a new edition to my collection but I just love it so much that I had to add it to my August Loves. Buff is a true brown lipstick, it is not too cool or warm, it is perfect. The formula is nice and creamy. The pigmentation is amazing. It looks amazing with MAC Stone Lip Pencil. This colour will look great on everyone but especially on brunettes with a medium toned complexion. Again, a wonderful shade for fall.

MAC Nice Buzz Plushglass

  • Nice Buzz is a pretty gloss with lots of fine pink and gold sparkle. It is beautiful on its own and if its applied on top of any lipstick, it gives it that little something. This looks great on everyone and I'm loving the smell of it, it totally reminds me of Pop Rocks candy.
